Passo del Giogo è uno spartiacque tra Toscana ed Emilia: con lo sguardo puntato verso le distese caliginose della Pianura Padana è facile individuare i contorni metropolitani del capoluogo emiliano. Ed è proprio verso "la città delle due torri" che il Generale statunitense Mark W. Clark puntava il suo cannocchiale nel settembre del '44. Con lo sfondamento di questo valico che sale dalle aspre colline del Mugello gli Alleati sognavano di liberare Bologna nel Natale di quell'anno.
