Start ist am Dauner Marktplatz - die Strecke führt zunächst ohne große Steigungen auf breiten Waldwegen entlang - Richtung Rengen Nach einer rasanten Wiesenabfahrt kommt der erste, knackige Anstieg zum Schalkenmehrener Maar Nach dessen Umrundung geht`s wieter hinauf zum „Weinfelder Maar“. Hier wartet mit der „Teufelsrutsch" die spektakulärste Abfahrt des VulkanBike. Von nun an geht stetig bergan, bevor sich die Biker über das „Sprungbrett“ eine sehr steile Abfahrt hinab stürzen. Unten angekommen gilt es ohne Atempause den harten Anstieg über die Skipiste hinauf zum „Mäuseberg" zu bewältigen. Nun folgen mit dem Anstieg zum „Dronketurm" und zum Maarkreuz am „Schalkenmehrener Maar“ die letzten beiden Steigungen. Auf dem leicht abschüssigen „Maare Mosel Radweg" geht’s durch den 560 m langen Tunnel „Großes Schlitzohr“, über das „Dauner Viadukt" und die „Eselsbrücke“ den letzten Anstieg hinauf zum „Forum Daun". Ein kurzer Zielsprint führt zum Ziel auf dem „Marktplatz Daun“. (Quelle: www.vulkanbike.de)
