Gestartet wird in Lieser an der Mosel. Von dort geht es erst einmal langsam aber stetig ca. 46 km und 400 hm entlang des Maare Mosel Radweges bis Schalkenmehren bergauf. Der Weg ist durchweg asphaltiert und, da es eine alte Bahntrasse ist, mit einigen Tunneln und Brücken sehr abwechslungsreich. Die ersten wirklichen Tour-Highlights kann man dann kurz vor Daun bestaunen. An gleich drei Maaren führt die Tour vorbei. Das Schalkenmehrener Maar mit Badestrand, das Weinfelder Maar (Totenmaar) und das Gemündener Maar mit dem Dronke-Turm auf dem Mäsueberg. Von hier aus hat man noch ca. 10 km Waldautobahn mit kleine Trailpassagen bis dann Nähe Manderscheid der Technikteil der Tour beginnt. Die schmalen Trails gehen über Wurzeln und Steine in geschätzten 100m "über" der Lieser und fordern doch etwas biketechnisches Geschick. Bei Trockenheit sicherlich einfacher als bei nassem Untergrund.
