Trail Description

Trip statisticsTrip counter:     49.4 kmMoving time:      2h17minStop time:        37minMax Speed:        48.2 km/hAve moving speed: 21.5 km/h (a new personal record)Trip descriptionOn this Monday (second day of Easter) the weather was much nicer than yesterday. The goal for this trip was to get the last information in order to finish the search for the "Aan het Kruis genageld_2" geocache. The last cache I needed was also the furthest away: 23.8km from home... I left at 14h45 with a partly cloudy sky, temperature around 13C, not that warm , not that cold. The GPS plotted a route via Voerendaal, Winthagen, Vrakelbergweg, Wijlre, Gulpen, Euverem, Terlinden, Schey. Now that I see it on the Map, that could have been a more straight line :-)I passed Wijlre with a nice view of the "Doodemanweg" and the small stream called the "Geul". Gulpen had a nice church from which you can also see the Gulperberg with the famous statue "OLV Maria Koningin"Almost at the top of the Rijksweg from Gulpen to Margraten I turned left and saw a nice castle "Neubourg". Riding up to another plateau I passed a field where they grow HOP, used for making BEER!I arrived at the location of geocache GC1F6H0 (Kruis2-10) around 16h45. First I thought the film container was placed somewhere under the large rocks.. no.. so looking around I saw another possible place, the big tree across the junction: BINGO. Nicely hidden! So now I have all the answers to solve the formula of the coordinates of the end cache! On the way back the GPS sent me via Margraten, Ijzeren and down to Schoonbron/Schin op Geul. There I stared the ascend towards Termaar and passed the stream the "Geul" again with a nice looking tree (Weeping Willow)  that just started to become green.Just before arriving in Termaar you have a nice view of Ransdaal and its church. Further away you can see the Wilhelminaberg in Landgraaf where SnowWorld is located. From Termaar it was just one more little ascent to Klimmen and then averaging 30+ km/h down and through Retersbeek towards home.As I arrived home the average moving speed was 21.5 km/h, another personal record :-)Photos: See all pictures and videos from Heerlen-Gulpen-Schilberg-Margaten-Heerlen
