Die Umrundung der Zugspitze (Umrundung des Wettersteinmassivs) ist für den konditionell engagierten Mountainbiker. Start ist am Kainzenbad in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, gleich neben der Sprungschanze. Angenehm rollt man Richtung Obergrainau ein und biegt danach rechts auf den Höhenweg rund um den Eibsee ab. Hier erarbeitet man sich schon die ersten Höhenmeter. Der anschließende Blick auf den Eibsee ist die erste Belohnung. Der Schotterweg und ein anschließendes Schiebestück führen weiter zur Hochthörlehütte. Rasant geht es nun bergab bis Ehrwald und durch den Ort hindurch bis zur Talstation der Ehrwalder Bahn. Nun kommt die kräftezerrende Auffahrt zur Ehrwalder Alm, die sich in vielen Serpentinen nach oben windet. Oben auf der Alm angekommen kann man noch einmal kurz verschnaufen, bevor die letzten Höhenmeter zu meistern sind. Danach bewegt man sich eine ganze Weile im Gaistal, das ,vorbei am Igelsee, flott talabwärts führt, bevor es einen auf einer Teerstraße ausspuckt. Weiter geht es auf einem Höhenweg, vorbei an Leutasch und einigen Waldwegen und einer Teerabfahrt bis kurz vor Mittenwald. Scharf links wieder hinauf zum Ferchensee. Gut fahrbar ist der weitere Weg Richtung Schloss Elmau, dann weiter Richtung Eckbauer. Der für Mountainbiker gesperrte Weg führt hinunter nach Wamberg. Alternativ fährt man bergab zum Eckbauer. Die Route nach Wamberg ist steil und tückisch, aber landschaftlich noch ein letztes Zuckerl bevor man den Startpunkt erreicht hat.

The circumnavigation of the Zugspitze (circumambulation of the weather stone massif) is the conditional dedicated mountain bikers. Start is at Kainzenbad in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, next to the ski jump. Pleasant rolled to a direction Obergrainau veers right on the high road around the Eibsee from. Here we have compiled the first altitude. The subsequent views of the Eibsee is the first reward. The gravel and subsequent sliding piece lead you to Hochthörlehütte. Rapidly it is now down to Ehrwald and through the village to the valley station of the Ehrwald train. Now comes the kräftezerrende ramp to Ehrwald Alm, the many switchbacks winds its way up. Above you can arrived at the pasture again catch shortly before the last few meters are to master. Then you quite a while moves in Gaistal that, past the Igelsee, fast downhill leads before it spits out one on a tarmac road. Continue on a mountain path, past Leutasch and some forest roads and a Teerabfahrt until shortly before Mittenwald. Sharp left back up to Ferchensee. Good mobile is the way forward towards Schloss Elmau, then continue towards Eckbauer. The locked for mountain biking trail leads down to Wamberg. Alternatively, you drive downhill to Eckbauer. The route is steep and treacherous after Wamberg, but scenic one last treat before you have even reached the starting point.
