La Marialonga è una strada. E' una strada antica...molto antica. E' larga e panoramica. Corre su una costa che sovrasta una parte della Valceno. A mio parere un tempo era percorsa da viandanti, mercanti e, perchè no...pellegrini.
L'importanza della strada è testimoniata dalla presenza dei ruderi di un antico potente castello: il castello di Roccalanzona, in antichità chiamato RochaLeone/a.
Ho stabilito la partenza dal passo di S.Antonio (sotto il monte Kanate) e l'arrivo a Ramiola. Sono solo(si fa per dire) 17 km con un dislivello positivo di circa 500mt e 900 di dislivello negativo. Il percorso non è facile a causa della notevole quantità di detriti presenti sul percorso e dai profondi solchi lasciati da trattori, quad e moto. Il ritorno può essere compiuto rientrando al valico di S.Antonio percorrendo la strada che porta a Varano de Melegari e salendo per la strada interna per Monte Salso e poi per la strada che da Mariano riporta al valico.....oppure per chi ha molta gamba.....ma molta...si può rientrare a Salso seguendo il percorso della via Francigena (pedalando nella storia) fino a Siccomonte e poi per gli itinerari di "Cogolonchio della battaglia" e di "un alpino in pasticceria". Da Salsomaggiore si risale a al passo di S.Antonio per la statale per Pellegrino oppure seguendo il tracciato di "a tutto Mariano".....vedete voi e buona bici.. Da Salsomaggiore Terme si prende prima Via Milano, poi Via Patrioti in direzione Pellegrino P.se.
Si passa da Contignaco, Pontegrosso, Pietraspaccata, e quindi si arriva al valico di S.Antonio.
Proprio di fronte ai ruderi di un albergo degli anni 60 parte la Strada della Costa. C'è un piccolo parcheggio dove si può lasciare la macchina. Si può salire al passo anche in bici seguendo la strada SP 359R, oppure seguire il tracciato di "a tutto Mariano". Per chi viene da Fornovo si prende la strada che va a Varano Melegari-Bardi. Davanti al castello di Varano parte la strada che sale a Montesalso-Pellegrino. Si segue fino a Mariano dove a destra si prende la strada della costa che porta fino al Passo S.Antonio.

I have set the pace from the start of St. Anthony (under the mountain Kanate) and arriving at Ramiola. They are only (so to say) 17 km with an elevation gain of about 500m in altitude and 900 negative. The path is not easy because of the large amount of debris in the path and the deep ruts left by tractors, quad bikes and motorcycles. The return can be accomplished by returning to the pass of San Antonio along the road that leads to Varano de Melegari and going up to the inner road to Monte Salty and then to the road from Mariano back to pass ..... or for those who have plenty of leg ..... but a lot ... you can go back to Salty following the route of the Via Francigena (pedaling in history) to Siccomonte and then routes "Cogolonchio of the battle" and "a mountain in pastry" . From Salsomaggiore goes back to the step of St. Anthony for the state to Pellegrino or following the path of "all Mariano" ..... see you and good bike .. From Salsomaggiore Terme before you take Via Milano, Via Patriots then towards Pellegrino P.se.

Right in front of the ruins of a hotel of the 60s part of the Coast Road. There is a small parking lot where you can leave your car. You can climb to the step by bike along the road SP 359R, or follow the path of "all Mariano." Coming from Fornovo take the road that goes to Varano Melegari-Bardi. In front of the castle Varano part of the road that goes to Montesalso-Pellegrino. Follow up to Mariano right where you take the coast road leading up to the Passo San Antonio.
